Japan’s national television station NHK and the “Nikkei Shimbun” reported on January 31 that Panasonic would stop producing its own solar panels. The report said the decision was due to increased price competition from Chinese manufacturers.

"Nikkei" reported that the company will stop production of solar cells and panels at factories in Malaysia and Shimane Prefecture, Japan, as early as March.

Both NHK and Nikkei said that in the future, Panasonic will purchase solar panels from other manufacturers.
